President Announces Executive Actions on Gun Violence

Justice Department to announce new safety measures.

On Thursday, President Biden announced a new batch of executive actions designed to address the nation’s gun safety issue. He stated that his administration intends to address national firearm safety through two new regulations put in place by the Justice Department. One would address “ghost guns” which are weapons that lack serials numbers, and the other would place regulations on stabilizing braces that allow pistols to be converted into short-barreled rifles.

President Biden also announced the appointment of David Chipman to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). Formerly an ATF agent, Mr. Chipman has served as a policy advisor at Giffords, which is a gun safety group. The ATF bureau has not had a confirmed director since 2015.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president and administration officials to seek the heart of God as they work to prevent gun violence.
  • For the Justice Department to uphold the Constitution as they implement safety measures.
  • For wisdom for Congress as they consider firearm legislation.
